Hammadides

The dynasty Hammadide , a branch of the Berber dynasty Zirides, is founded by Hammad Ibn Bologhine, wire of Bologhine ibn Ziri. Hammadides reigned on a territory corresponding about to the north of current the Algérie during one century and half.

Hammad Ibn Bologhine, founds the dynasty in 1014, while being declared independent of the Zirides, and by recognizing the legitimacy of the caliphs Abbassides of Baghdad. In 1016, after a little less than two years of conflict, a Cessez-le-feu is concluded, but it is only in 1018, that Zirides recognize the authority of Hammadides.

Their capital is initially Al-Qala (the Kalaa of Beni Hammad), then, when she is threatened by the Hilaliens, becomes Béjaïa.

The incursions of Hilaliens, sent by the Fatimides, starting from 1052, largely weaken the dynasty until it is definitively overcome with arrived of the Almohades.
