Hamilton Fish Armstrong
Hamilton Fish Armstrong (1893-1973), American politician, editor association of the review Foreign Affairs .
Biography
Formed with Princeton, it began its career in New Republic. During the war of 1914, it was military attach3e in Serbia. In 1922, it enters to Foreign Affairs , the review of the Council one Foreign Relations like assistant of editor association Archibald Cary Coolidge. Its death in 1928, it succeeds and will occupy this station until 1972 to him. It was three times delegated to the International Studies Conference (1929, 1933,1935) of the IICI (International institute of Intellectual Co-operation). It was used of 1942 for 1944 in the United States Department' S Advisory Committee one Post-War Foreign Policies which worked in the fields of future UNO. It was also, in 1944 and 1945, special adviser of the Secretary of State, Edward Stettinius.
Walter Lippmann married in 1938, the first Mrs Armstrong, which put an end to a deep friendship between the two men. Hamilton Fish Armstrong received many distinctions: Serb, Rumanian, Czechoslovakian, French (knight of the legion of honor (1937), officer (1947)), English (commander of the British Empire (1972)).
