Hall off the Mountain King

Hall off the Mountain King is a song of the British group The Who of 1967, published titrates of them no-claims bonus in the remasterized edition of The Who Sell Out (1995).

It is a resumption of In the Cave of the King of the Mountain , traditional piece of music composed by Edvard Grieg for Play, Peer Gynt , written by the author Norwegian Henrik Ibsen in 1867 and played for the first time at Oslo the February 24th 1876.

Genesis and recording

The piece, arranged by Who, was recorded in an unknown studio with London, on April 28th, 1967.

John Entwistle, bass player of Who, explains off about Hall the Mountain King : A long time ago, we had envisaged to realize an instrumental piece under the title Instrumental - No Title , and then there was Hall Off The Mountain King . We recorded it, and it returned well out of the studio, but once inside that did not sound any more if exciting. There was a heap of errors, we thus drew aside the idea
