Halftrack m3

The caterpillar tractor Blindé Halftrack m3 was the first Freight vehicle of troops of the US Army with being employed operationally. Built and used intensively during and after the Second world war, it completes its military career within Tsahal at the time of the Opération Peace as a Galileo (1982).

Presentation

Conceived by the manufacturer Diamond T like the Halftrack m2, it could transport to 10 combatants.

Implemented by a crew of 3 men, it had of an engine gasoline, a gear box with 4 report/ratio and a winch before 4,5 T. Its shielding went from 6,3 to 12,7 Misters.

Initial version known as M3A1 had a heavy machine gun placed in front of the vehicle. 70 alternatives representing 41000 vehicles left factories Diamond T, White and Autocar whose version has four Maxson machine-guns gauges .50.
