Halation (Jupiter)

The halation is a ring of the planet Jupiter.

Characteristics

The halation is internal of the three Anneaux of Jupiter. As its name indicates it, it acts more than one diffuse ring that the rings generally found around gas another planets of the solar system. It indeed takes the form of a Tore surrounding Jupiter, beginner to 89.400 km of the center of planet (either 1,25 times its ray) and extending until the principal ring, to 123.000 km.

The halation is densest in its center, on a 1.000 km thickness.

This ring was observed for the first time at the time of the overflight of the system jovien by the probe Voyager 1 in March 1979; it was indicated temporarily by 1979 J 1R.
