Colin Archer (July 22nd 1832 - February 3rd 1921) was a manufacturer and naval Architecte of Larvik in Norway. He was born parents Scot having emigrated in 1825.

Its shipyard was famous for the longevity and the safety of its boats.

Most famous built by Colin Archer is the Trois-mâts Fram which took part in several forwardings in the two poles. Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen was the chiefs of forwardings. The Fram , after more than one century of existence, is from now on a Navire museum (Frammuseet) on the quays of Bygdøy with Oslo.

Colin Archer inlassablement calculated the ideal plan for its many achievements as varied as from the lifeboats, the Yacht S, the pilot and Remorqueur S and other ships. It is credited of more than 200 achievements.

A plane Colin Archer is still nowadays a sure value for the navigators and manufacturers of deep-sea sailing ships.
