Hairs and Feathers
In the Folklore studied in Belgium, the Hairs and the Feathers are students having finished to them Baptême, and by conséquant having left the statute of Bleus and bleuettes.
They can carry the warp end or the cap according to the tradition in force in their circle and faculty, to be presented in the form of a candidate to the station of Comitard in a Comité of student's baptism or circle, to take part freely in the Guindaille S and Cantus.
Traditionally, they carry an apron of guindaille decorated with drawings and graffiti.
The passage between the statute of blue/bleuette and that of hairs/feathers varies according to the university and from faculty. The last initiatory test (given of warp end to Liege, diploma of baptism to ULB, passage of cap to UCL,…) is not always explicit as for this change of status. But it is unanimously recognized that a baptized student having passed (successfully or not) the examinations of end of the year jumped the step. The port of at least two stars/bolts on the warp end/cap in is thus the symbol.
