Haier () is a Chinese company of electric household appliances. Its seat is located at Qingdao, in China. It is today the third larger producer of “white products” in the world. The Haier group deferred more than nine billion dollars sale, all sectors confused, in 2004.
Its leading products are in white products:
- the refrigerators
- conditioners of air
- the washing machines
- the freezers
- the vacuum cleaners
The company also diversified in the production of the audio-visual, data-processing apparatuses and of telecommunication.
It also developed a branch pharmacy and activities in the field of the services.
Founded in 1984, starting from a collective small company of manufacture of refrigerators of Qingdao, Haier first of all developed on its domestic market then established a division with the the United States in 1994, and opened a branch with Hong-Kong in April 2005. It belongs to the Shanghai Stock Exchange and of the index Dow Jones China 88.
In June 2005, Haier showed its interest for the acquisistion of Maytag, joining to this end the private funds Blackstone and Capital Bain for a tender offer. Ripplewood Holdings, another bottom American also was shown interested but Whirlpool made the best offers on Maytag has 21 $ per action is 1,7 Mds of $ on the whole.
The Haier mark, first mark in China east entered signal 100 of the most known marks in the world.
