Hadol

Hadol is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Hadolais.

Geography

Hadol is located at 12 km in the south of Épinal, between Arches and Xertigny. The relief of small hills, belonging to the Mounts Sickles, is traversed by small brooks joining either the the Moselle, or the Coney. The watershed the North Sea - the Mediterranean thus crosses the village. ; Lieudits: Buzegney, Grandfaing, Guménil, Géroménil, the Holly-grove, Digneul, the Carrier, the Ponds, Hadol-High, Hadol-Low, the Near-French, Jump It, the Old man-Mills, Taillon, Rougerupt and Senade.

History

The commune was constituted after the Revolution of several dispersed hamlets, gathering the old localities of Hadol-the-High, Hadol-the-Low and Hadol-the-Turn. The name Hadol comes from the patois, means dry and C is an edge. Hadol is located on an old sandy moraine.

  • a counterpart of the Grotte of Doors is set up near the center of the village, the Virgin appearing with Bernadette requesting.
This counterpart, on scale 1, was built by Hadolais to thank God for having saved Hadol during the Second world war.
