Haddock captain

The Capitaine Archibald Haddock is one of the main characters of the series of Cartoon the adventures of Tintin and Milou, created by Hergé.

Origin

He is the best friend of Tintin since the episode of the Crabe to the gold grips (1941), in which they meet for the first time. As for the origin of the name of the Haddock captain, according to Philippe Goddin, author of Chronology of a work , it is inspired by the Captain Craddock , Franco-German film of Hans Schwarz and max of Vaucorbeil (1931), whose Hergé was a large fan. The part “Haddock” also comes owing to the fact that Hergé liked the Aiglefin smoked, often called haddock .

Its first name, Archibald, will be mentioned for the first time in Tintin and Picaros , the last completed album of the Aventures of Tintin and Milou . It will be again mentioned in an unfinished album, Tintin and Alph-Art .

Character
