Habemus Papam
Habemus Papam is a phrase Latin E secular which means “We have a Pape”. She is pronounced by the Cardinal protodiacre at the conclusion of a Conclave, since the central Balcon of the Basilique Saint-Pierre with the the Vatican, in order to announce with Roman crowd and the whole world ( Urbi and orbi ) the identity of the new elected official and the name of reign which he chose.
The Latin formula
The complete formula is the following one, pronounced by the cardinal protodiacre, i.e. the Doyen of the cardinal - deacons:
Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum. Habemus papam, eminentissimum ac reverendissimum dominum, dominum of the elected official , sanctae Romanae Ecclesiae Cardinalem of family of the elected official , who sibi nomen imposuit of reign of the elected official .
Translation
I announce a great joy to you: we have a pope, the very eminent one and very reverend lord, the lord] of the elected official], Cardinal of holy Roman Église of family] of the elected official], who gave himself the name of of reign of the popes|name of reign] of the elected official].
Variations

the first name (S) of baptism of the elected official are announced in Latin language, declined (S) with the Accusatif (Albinum, Carolum, Iosephum,… for Albino, Karol and Joseph). Its family name is announced in the form of its language of orgine (Luciani, Wojtyła, Ratzinger,…). The name of reign of the new pope is generally declined with the Génitif (Ioannis vincesimi tertii, Ioannis Pauli primi, Benedicti decimi sexti…) ; however, it sometimes is given declined to the accusative, which is regarded as more correct by the Latinists (Paulum sextum…).
