HC Olomouc

HC Olomouc is a club of Hockey of the town of Olomouc in Czech Republic. The team evolves/moves in the Czech championship of the second division, the 1. liga . In 1994, the team gains the title of champion first season of the Extraliga , highest Czech division.

History

The team is founded in 1955 under the name of Spartak Moravia Olomouc whereas the history of the hockey in the town of Olomouc goes back to 1929. Spartak takes the continuation of the Krídla vlasti Olomouc and belonged to the championship of the third division. At the end of one season, the club goes up in the second division, the second division which the club will know during a good number of seasons.

At the conclusion of the season 1989-90, the team manages to join the Czechoslovakian championship elite benefitting from the passage of the league with fourteen formations.

At January 1st and following the partition of the Czechoslovakia, the team joined new the Czech championship elite. At the time of this first season, the club, seventh and before the last of the championship surprise everyone in turn by drawing aside the teams of HC České Budějovice (in three matches Nets) and of HC Kladno, first at the conclusion of the regular season and victorious of the first two matches of the semi-final. Jiří Dopita is then one of the craftsmen of the course of the team. Finally, the team meets that of the HC Pardubice which it draws aside in four matches creating the general surprise and gaining to it first title of the history of the news Extraliga .

Following the season 1997-98, the team leaves Extraliga with the profit of Karlovy Vary which repurchases the license, joined the 1. liga and two years later, the club selling the license to evolve/move in 1.liga does not have any more a professional senior team. A new license for the 2.liga is bought with the club of the Uherské Hradiště following the season 2001-02 and in 2003 reaches the 1.liga to which it always belongs.
