HC Kladno

HC Kladno is a club of Hockey of Czech Republic based with Kladno in Bohemia Centrale and which currently evolves/moves in the Extraliga (higher Czech division). Its skating rink is the Zimní Stadion (: 8600 places).

History

The club was founded in 1924 under the name of HOSK Kladno . The various names carried thereafter are the following:
  • Sokol Kladno in 1949,
  • Poldi SONP Kladno in 1977
  • HC Poldi Kladno in 1995,
  • HC Velvana Kladno in 1997,
  • HC Vagnerplast Kladno in 2000
  • HC Rabat Kladno in 2003.
  • HC GEUS OKNA Kladno in 2007
The teams of hockey of Extraliga are known under the name of their sponsor who can change periodically. The team of Kladno is currently called HC GEUS OKNA Kladno .

The team was particularly strong at the end of the years 1970 with four consecutive titles of champion of Czechoslovakia between 1975 and 1978 then still a title in 1980. Kladno also gained the Coupe of Europe in 1977 after having beaten the Spartak Moscow finally. The high-speed motorboat of the time was called Milan Nový, which accepted the Crosse of Gold better player of the league at the end of the seasons 1977, 1981 and 1982, and was the best meter of the championship six years of continuation. František Pospíšil was him also elected better player of the league, in 1971 and 1972.

The club had less success at the time of the following seasons, and was even relegated in 2002 in the second division. It succeeds in nevertheless going up in Extraliga the following year.
