The history of the HBCN crossed that of Nantes. The idea to assemble a club appeared in 1953, in the famous coffee of " the régence" , not far from the place of the trade. Then the club transfer its head office in the largest brewery of the city of the Dukes, " the cigale". The matches proceed then with the fields from March, vis-a-vis the stage Marcel Saupin, worship place of the great years of the FC Nantes. The very hot derbies of the time proceed there face with Laëtitia and Nantes Etudiant Club. A few years later, the " H" settle in the popular quarters of Dervallières. Today, the club has a modern and functional sports complex, where it installed its head office around a flexible room of 1500 to 2000 sitted places.

During the seasons 1988-1989 and 1989-1990, the HBCN knows two years exceptional where it flirte with the tops. First of all it is the rise in N1B, old D2, then the stoppings lost for the rise in N1A. The following years are more difficult, during which the club knows several relegations.

Resolutely turned towards the formation, the HBCN has framed for several years of the young people in the districts, with discovered handball. A training center born recently represents the result of this policy.

The strategy of the current executive team shows the affirmed wish well join the elite in the very near future. A manpower stabilized for several seasons, and a recruitment of quality cash of the young people like Mr. Sincère (ex Montpellier) and A. Lambert (ex Chambéry) in 2006, and of the players more experienced than have been D.Drobnjakovic and F.Dole in 2007, contributes to this progression towards D1.

The HBCN belongs to the large clubs of the west of France, and attracts a public increasingly more.
