Húrin

Húrin , wire of Galdor of Dor-lómin, is an imaginary character invented by J.R.R. Tolkien. The account of its life is told in Silmarillion .

History

Called Thalion, " Inébranlable" , " Fort" , he is the husband of Morwen, the father of Túrin and Nienor, the lord of Dor-lómin, and the vassal one of Fingon. He went to Gondolin with his brother Huor, at the end of the seat of Angband, thanks to the Aigles and where they became friendly of Turgon. And they could set out again because they had arrived by the voice of the airs, and thus did not know the means of reaching the hidden kingdom.

Húrin took part with its people in the " The Battle of the Innombrables" Tears; (Nirnaeth Arnoediad) near the Noldor of the house of Fingolfin: Fingon and Turgon. It is Húrin which required of Turgon to leave with the remainder the army Gondolin and the soldiers Fingon and it covered their retirements with his brother. There remained the last upright, he took that then Hache with two hands and with each blow he shouted: Aurë, entuluyva! (the day will come!)

It is told that the weather pushed sixty ten times this cry for finally, submerged by the number, being is captive under the order of Morgoth. It is Gothmog him even which made it connect and bring to Angband; what put an end to Nirnaeth Arnoediad. There, Morgoth tortured it to tear off information to him on Gondolin, but he laughs to him with the nose. Then, Morgoth connected it on the Thangorodrim from where he just like heard and saw Morgoth, which curses it (like all its family), and this curse followed Túrin and Nienor during all their life.

Lastly, after 28 years, Morgoth released Húrin of its bonds and says to him to go where he wanted. He wanted to go to Gondolin but the hidden kingdom from now on was closed. Thorondor the outline and warns the king Turgon who says then: " Même Húrin Thalion yielded to the will of Morgoth ". Then desperate Húrin remained motionless there, then shouted while deploring its fate: Turgon, Turgon, remember the Marsh of Serech! O Turgon, don't you understand anything behind your ramparts? . Then the spies of Morgoth reported to him what they had heard and it were one of the evils to bring by its release, due to the curse of Morgoth and Húrin left then. A little later Turgon sent the Aigles to its seek to bring back it in its kingdom, but in vain.

Húrin went in Brethil, at the edge of Cabed Naeramarth close to the place where Glaurung had burned where draws up the stone on which the name of his/her children is registered: " Túrin Tulambar Dagnir Glaurunga " like " Nienor Niniel ". Morwen, his wife was held there too, who died with the setting sun. It jouta then on the stone: " to also lie Here Mormwen Eledhwen ".

It went then towards the south, with Nargothrond (the residence of Finrod Felagund devastated by the dragon Glaurung) where the dwarf Mîm elected residence by adapting all the treasures to with it. It killed it because Mîm had betrayed his/her son. Ruins, it took one treasure: the Nauglamír.

It left towards the east, with Doriath, in the king Thingol, in his palate with the Miles Caves, where it gave him the Nauglamir in remembering Húrin of Dor-lómin and in thanks of the love carried to his/her son Túrin and with the assistance brought to his/her daughter Nienor and her wife Morwen.

Then, it left the palate the Thousand Caves and all those which saw it moved back; no one did not dare to stop it or require of him where it went. Nobody knew that it occurs of him and it is said that it wandered without goal. It ends up being thrown in the sea of the West what was the end of the largest warrior among the mortals.
