Hérouville

Hérouville is a Commune Frenchwoman, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Hérouvillois (be).

Geography

The village is located at ten kilometers of the new Ville of Cergy-Pontoise, and is next to the commune of Auvers-sur-Oise.

Heraldic

History

The legend tells that “Mr Saint Clearly of Hérouville” would have remained there before dying decapitated in Saint-Clearly-on-Epte.

The families of Montmorency and Laval are established there as of the 11th century. To this time a church goes back on the place says “Haulte ridges”, but it undergoes a fire during the Guerre One hundred Year old. It was rebuilt at the 15th century.

The castle was built in 1740 by the Gaudot architect of the school of Rome. At the 19th century, it was used as relay of station (between Versailles and Beauvais) which counted a hundred horses. A fire damaged the left wing. In the Years 1970, Michel Magne creates a studio of recording there where the great names of the song and music come to remain: Cat Stevens, Pink Floyd, Eddy Mitchell, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Nino To shoe, Pierre Vassiliu, T-Rex, Claude Nougaro, Michel Polnareff, Salvatore Adamo, Gilbert Mountain, Jean-Christian Michel which records there a disc with Kenny Clarke, David Bowie and much of others. But very in 1985 stopped, because finances did not follow…

1995: Hérouville, with 93 other communes, is founding member of the Regional natural park of French Vexin.

2003: the Municipal council makes the official request of the change of the name of the commune, to be called henceforth Hérouville-in-Vexin . At the present time (2007), the procedure is on standby in front of the Council of State.
