Hérimoncourt

Hérimoncourt is a common French, located in the department of the Doubs and the area Franche-Comté. Its inhabitants is called Hérimoncourtois .

Geography

Hérimoncourt is a commune of the east of France.

The communes bordering are: Seloncourt, Vandoncourt, Abbévillers, Meslières, Thulay, and Rocks-the-Blamont.

History

The village was marked by the presence of the family Peugeot. With the XIXe century Hérimoncourt undergoes an industrial boom: Peugeot opened factories in various districts (in Chapotte, with Under-Cratet and with Ground-White), specialized in the Textile and the Métallurgie, before opening of them others in the common neighbors.

Demography

The rise of the industrial boom multiplies by ten the population in a little more than one century. This one reached more than 3.600 hearts at the beginning of XXe the day before the First World War. Today, 3983 inhabitants were listed in 1999.

Places and monuments

  • the museum Roger Count pays homage to the painter in the family home which shelters old pieces of furniture and tables.
  • the Pierre-Peugeot castle was built at the beginning of the XXe century, it is today the property of an association of assistance to the unsuited children.
