Hématémèse

A hématémèse is a generally red rejection of Sang by the mouth during an effort of Vomissement. Blood can be more or less digested thus more or less black according to the degree of damning up.

A hématémèse generally translates a high digestive Hémorragie.

Differential diagnosis

There exist three differential diagnoses:
  • the Hémoptysie (blood of origin pulmonary, in particular bronchial) where blood is emitted at the time of an effort of Toux.
  • the vomiting fécaloïdes, at the time of a Occlusion: blood is then black.
  • the épistaxis swallowed: swallowed nosebleed, digested then vomit. In this case it should be checked that blood does not come from the Choanes (posterior opening of the Nez).
