Héloïse
The letters of Héloïse (1101 - 1164) and of Abélard are among best known and the oldest of the romantic Amour. Although Héloïse is a very educated young woman few things are known for us of his family, except that in her letters it indicates, being probably of the Garlande family which had influential money and members, who it is of a social status lower than that of Abélard, which was noble.
It is known that it passed its childhood to the monastery of Argenteuil and that it was under the guard of her uncle the Fulbert canon with Paris, which will place it in a professor, an intellectual even and one of most popular, Abélard.
In its writings, this one explains how it allured this erudite woman, the birth of a son, Astrolabe (entrusted to his/her sister), his marriage, its separation, its castration after which Héloïse enters to the convent of Argenteuil. Helped by its relations, it is essential among the rare women who dominate their time by their wisdom, their force and their skill to manage a religious community.
In 1129, when the Abbé Suger which treats it low blue expels them it involves his/her partners in a small oratory of the diocese of Troyes, the Abbaye of Paraclet close to Quincey (currently common of Ferrous ore-Quincey), which belongs to Abélard, which taught there but in 1127 left it to become abbot of Saint-Gildas-with-Rhuys (Morbihan). This one gives the priory to the moniales, with the ulterior motive to make of it a monastery of women placed under the supervision of a man - itself in fact - but without succeeding there. Héloïse does not leave any other written. Its body is buried beside that of Pierre.
For the romantic period a special monument was built for them with the Cimetière of the Father-Lachaise.
The Colibri héloïse ( Atthis heloisa ) was dedicated to him by the French ornithologists Rene Primevère Lesson (1794-1849) and Adolphe Delattre (1805-1854) in 1839.
