Héctor Babenco
Hector Babenco (Mar del Plata, Argentinian, February 7th 1946) is a realizer, producer and Brazilian scenario writer of Argentinian origin. It is especially known for its films, of a realism believed, bearing on the South American prison system such as the Kiss of the woman spider or more recently Carandiru . He lived in Europe in the Années 1960 and worked in particular with the Brésil, in Argentine and with the the United States.
He directed inter alia William Hurt, Raul Julia, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Tom Berenger, Daryl Hannah, Aidan Quinn and Kathy Bates.
He was member of the jury of the Cannes festival in 1989 and the Mostra of Venice in 1998.
