The Hébrides external , sometimes called Western Isles but officially known under the Scottish name of Na h-Eileanan Siar , are a Archipel with broad of the west coast of the Scotland and pertaining to the archipelago of the Hébrides.

Principal islands
The principal islands form an archipelago which, being surrounded of a great number of small islands is sometimes known under the poetic name “Isle Length”.The largest islands are Lewis and Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist and Barra. To the South of this one the Îles extend Barred including/understanding Mingulay and Vatersay.

Other islands
Small islands or groups of islands are scattered around the independent group of îles :- in the West extends the Monach Islands, the Îles Flannan, Saint-Kilda and Rockall in the order of éloignement ;
- in the East extends the Shiant Isles.
