Héas
Heàs is a frequent toponym in Gascogne. One owes him:
- Héas hamlet and valley in the south of Gèdre in Lavedan,
- Hias (with Castetbon, Mourenx, Saubole, Angoume)
- Féas in Barétous (repair néolatine of Heàs , Heaas in 1343).
It comes from:
- heà < fenar , a toponymic derivative of the Latin fenum “Hay”. The evolution fenar > heà is regular in Gascon.
- augmentative suffix - ac/- ace
