Gyrotour
The Gyrotour is a panoramic tower present at the Park of the Futuroscope of Poitiers.
Description
The Gyrotour is a gigantic cylindrical tower white, out of metal. A nacelle of 80 places in the shape of crown is hoisted there up to 45 meters with the top of the ground, along the mast, by means of 20 cable S and of 2 Contrepoids of 17 ton S, while turning in the direction of the needles of a watch thanks to electrical motors. It was conceived by the Swiss company Intamin.
In seven minutes, Gyrotour offers to 80 visitors a complete panorama on all the park of the Futuroscope, its technopolis, the retail parks Modern times and the Doors of the Future , and the common neighbors, Jaunay-Clan and Chasseneuil-du-Poitou. Part of Poitiers is even visible there the days of very good weather, with 7 kilometers in the south.
There exists with Europa Park, in Germany, Eurotower, a tower similar to Gyrotour, a 75 meters height but lower capacity.
History

1990 : Inauguration of Gyrotour in November.
- 1991 : Simulation of breakdown of Gyrotour in full rise, for a exercise of first aid.
- 1997 : At the time of the tenth birthday of the Park, Gyrotour is decorated in Bougie with the installation with a flame in Néon in its top.
- 1998 : Installation of a countdown for the year 2000.
- 2006 : In June, general breakdown of Gyrotour during one week following a violent one storm.
