The gynécée (of the old Greek γυναικηΐη / gynaikêïê ) is the term used to indicate the apartment of the Femme S in the Greek Maison S and Roman.

In Greece

The zone reserved for the women comprises the activities which correspond to them. The company resulting from the Greek civilization confines them in roles related to the hearth. The Greek thought excluded them from the intellectual tasks, at a point such as same in the parts of Aristophane, thinker of political feminism, the feminine roles were played by male actors!

As any dependence in which is exerted a sexual segregation, gynécée is scented of erotism. Let us add to that the Greek Mythologie which places nymphs, ondines and goddesses in female forms evoking their grace, one did not have any more to inspire the artists claiming this heritage.
