Gylippos was a general Spartan sent using the Syracusains against the Athéniens in 414.

It is under its command that the fleet and the Athenian army were entirely destroyed. It beat the Athenian generals Nicias and Démosthène in front of Syracuse, it accompanied Lysandre with the seat by Athens, and was charged by him with making transport in Sparte 1500 talents taken on the enemy. It was adapted some by fraud 300; but this flight having been discovered, it was forced expatrier to escape the torment.
