Gyaltsab Rinpoché
Gyaltsab Rinpoché is, with Taï Sitou Rinpoché, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoché and Shamar Rinpoché, one of the Regents of the Karmapa. It ensures, just like Taï Sitou Rinpoché, the instruction of the chief of the line Kagyu. It resides in its Monastery of Ralang, with the Sikkim.
The Gyaltsab Rinpochés were always the Vajra Regents of the Karmapa S and the guards of the Monasteries of the Karmapa. Gyalsab Rinpoché, through its long line of incarnations, was recognized like an expert as regards meditation. In Tibet, Gyalsab Rinpoché was called Gyalsab Rinpoché of Tsourphou, because he was the Regent of Karmapa to the Monastery of Tsourphou.
Gyalsab Rinpoché is the emanation of Bodhisattva Vajrapani. In the past, Gyalsab Rinpoché it was Ananda, the disciple of the Bouddha Shakyamuni which had a perfect memory and was able to expose all will sutras them (lesson) of the Buddha before the assembly. Consequently Ananda was charged to maintain all the words of the Buddha perfectly intact.
Gyalsab Rinpoché was also incarnated as a one of the principal Ministers for King Songtsen Gampo of the Tibet. It was also Palju Wangchuk, one of the 25 principal disciples of Padmasambhava. During the life of Milarepa, Gyalsab Rinpoché seemed Repa-zhiwa U.
1st Gyalsab Rinpoché, Paljor Dondrub (1427 - 1489) received the glorious title Goshir of the emperor of China. It was born in Nyemo Yakteng. Gyalsab Rinpoché, on which the Karmapa took care since its childhood, was appointed secretary and regent of the Karmapa at 14 years. It received the complete transmission of the line of the Karmapa, Jampal Zangpo, and 3rd Shamar Rinpoché. He became the main teacher of following Karmapa.
2nd Gyalsab Rinpoché, Tashi Namgyal (1490 - 1518) received Karmapa the red cap which releases the sight. This red cap indicates the inseparability of the Karmapa and Gyalsab Rinpoché, and also states that their enlightened spirits are equal in kind. Gyalsab Rinpoché identified the 8th Karmapa and was in charge of its education.
3rd Gyalsab Rinpoché, Drakpo Paljor (1519 - 1549) was born in the south from Lhassa and was appointed principal regent of the Karmapa.
4th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Dragpa Dundrub (1550 - 1617) was also born close to Lhassa and received the transmission of the line of the Karmapa and the 5th Shamar Rinpoché. It was re-elected for its comments and it attracted hundreds of disciples.
5th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Dragpa Choyang (1618 - 1658) was crowned by the 6th Shamar Rinpoché. It passed the majority of its life in meditation. It was also very close to the 5th Dalaï Lama, because they were strongly dependant spiritual friends. Before the 10th Karmapa does not flee the Tibet following the Mongolian invasion, the Karmapa gave the mantel of the line to Gyalsab Rinpoché.
6th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Norbu Zangpo (1660 - 1698) was crowned by the 10th Karmapa, after its birth with the Tibet of the East. He meditated intensely and wrote many comments.
7th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Konchog Ozer (1699 - 1765) was born close to Lhassa and was crowned by the 12th Karmapa. It became one of the principal Masters root of the 13th Karmapa, and transmitted the line to the Karmapa.
8th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Chophal Zangpo (1766 - 1817) have for Main teachers the 13th Karmapa and the 8th Taï Sitou Rinpoché. He became a Master of famous meditation and achieves high states of realization.
9th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Yeshe Zangpo (1821 - 1876) and 10th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Tenpe Nyima (1877 - 1901) kept the invaluable transmissions of the line Kagyupa: receiving and the passer by with the other Masters of line. Both passed their lives in intense meditation.
11th Gyalsab Rinpoché, Dragpa Gyatso (1902 - 1949) was identified by the 15th Karmapa and it transmitted the line.
The 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje identified the present and 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoché while it was still in the uterus of his mother. His/her parents lived in Nyimo, close to Lhassa. Shortly after its identification in 1959, Gyalsab Rinpoché was exiled with the 16th Karmapa.
The 16th Karmapa carried Gyalsab Rinpoché on its back while crossing the Himalayas towards the exile. It was established with the Monastery of Rumtek to the Sikkim and received the transmissions necessary.
The father of Gyalsab Rinpoché wished that he study in a modern school. However, Gyaltsabpa left school one harms and travelled only 15 km to join Rumtek. Its devotion for the Karmapa and the line is unequalled.
Gyalsab Rinpoché learned the Dharma with the others wire from heart of the Karmapa such as Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoché and Taï Sitou Rinpoché. Like the majority of its incarnations, it passes its life in meditation and takes care of the Monastery of the Karmapa. It currently resides at the Sikkim and is the Regent representing the line over there. It supervises the activities and the functions of Rumtek and with its own monasteries, such as Ralang, with the Sikkim.
In 1992, Gyaltsabpa and Taï Sitoupa crowned the 17th Karmapa with the Tibet. The Karmapa was since then run away in India and Gyaltsab Rinpoché will help to prepare the return of the Karmapa to Rumtek.
Like Taï Sitou Rinpoché, Gyaltsab Rinpoché is one of the main teachers of the 17th Karmapa and already granted transmissions (such as Rinchen Terdzo) to the 17th Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje
