Gwyn Nicholls

Erith Gwyn Nicholls , born on July 15th 1874, deceased the March 24th 1939, was a former player of Rugby Welsh, evolving/moving at the station of center for the Wales and primarily for the club of Cardiff RFC.

Career

Born with Westbury-one-Severn, Gwyn Nicholls starts to play Rugby with XV with Cardiff Stars before beginning for Cardiff RFC in 1893. It will play all its career there during 18 seasons, excluded a mid-season with Newport in 1901-02 for professional reasons.

It disputed its first test match the January 25th 1896, against the team of Scotland, and its last test match was against the team of South Africa, on February 1st 1906.

Gwyn Nicholls disputed four test matches with the British Lions, in 1899 in Australia, it is the only selected Welshman.

It cheek 24 matches including 10 as captain. He is the captain of the victorious team of the triple crown 1902.

He is also the captain of the victorious team of the All Blacks 3-0 in Cardiff.

Nicholls was known like the prince of the “three quarters”.
