Guy de Brès

Guy de Brès (or of Bray ), reforming of the Spanish Netherlands born in 1522 with Mons and dead the Valencian May 31st 1567 with .

Biography

August 1st Painter and glass maker of formation, it had to exile a time with London (1548) after his adhesion in Réforme.

He made theological studies with the Académie of Lausanne. He attended Jean Calvin, Theodore de Bèze and Pierre Viret.

He was the successor of Pierre Brully as an organizer of the reformed churches of the Spanish Netherlands. He preached in particular with Dieppe, Sedan, Lille, Douai, Tournai, Antwerp.

He is the author of the Confessio Belgica , confession of faith of the calvinists of the Spanish Netherlands. This text still nowadays has importance for many Churches, in particular in the Netherlands, in South Africa and North America. It is one of the texts of reference of the Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij, left protesting fundamentalist néerlandais.

Guy de Brès was carried out by hanging to have celebrated holy Cène.
