Guy Vidal

Guy Vidal was a journalist and French scenario writer born with Marseilles (France), the June 8th 1939 and deceased the October 4th 2002.

Guy Vidal begins in journalism at 17 years, in Versailles, at the sides of Roland Faure. After a short passage to Radio-Luxembourg (currently RTL), it enters to the drafting of “Pilote”, in the Sixties, at the moment when Rene Goscinny, Jean-Michel Charlier and Albert Uderzo takes again the control of this weekly magazine called “the magazine of the year 2000” which they had launched in October 1959.

It divides all the large ones and rich hours of this newspaper, where cross great talents of the “modern” cartoon - of Tardi to Claire Bretécher, while passing by Reiser, Nikita Mandryka, Gotlib, Cabu, etc

Between 1973 and 1974, at the request of its editor, Georges Dargaud, and whereas the weekly magazine, shaken by the shock wave of May 68, is on the point of becoming monthly, Guy Vidal becomes editor association about it.

While former collaborators of Pilote found the magazines “Métal Howling” and “icy Fluide”, it succeeds in - helped by the presence of Enki Bilal, Gerard Lauzier, Pierre Christin, Fred, Jacques Lob, Lesueur, Baru, max Huts, Harlé, F' murr, Jean-Claude Mézières, Jean Solé, Greg, Pétillon, Régis Frankly and well of others - stabilizing “Pilote”.

Whereas its “owner”, Rene Goscinny, become his friend, disappears the November 5th 1977, it pays homage to him while making appear, in the pages of the newspaper, at the sides of Gotha of the data base, a certain number of feathers musketeers. Of that of Pierre Desproges with that of Louis Nucéra, While passing by Jacques A. Bertrand, P. Lebedel, Marie-Angel Guillaume, Claude Klotz and even the former director of the Very Grande Bibliothèque, Dominique Jamet.

In same time, become scenario writer, he works with Alexis, Florenci Clavé, Antonio Parras, Morris (" Been engaged of Lucky Luke"), Alain Bignon (the saga of Albert Froidevaux, four albums of “small” modern histories, which was republished, in only one volume, under Preterit title the “”, with the Humanoïdes Associés) and publishes, with Michel Henry, bulky and anecdotic “an Adventure of Paris”, prefaced by Jacques Chirac.

Moved away from “Pilot”, between 1981 and 1982, Guy Vidal remains at Dargaud until 1990, time when it joined the rows of Humanoïdes Associés. Three years later, it returns to the Dargaud fold of which it becomes again one of the literary directors.

In parallel, with his/her friends Patrick Cauvin and J.L. Robert, it writes for television and, in bookstore, continuous with Victor of Fuente, the series of the “Gringos”, inherited Jean-Michel Charlier. Guy Vidal dies on October 4th, 2002.
