Guy Ropartz
Joseph-Guy Ropartz is a Compositeur French, born with Guingamp (Coast-with Armor) the June 15th 1864 and died in Lanloup (Coast-with Armor) on November 22nd, 1955.
Biography
Born in Brittany with Guingamp (Coast-of-North), Joseph-Guy-Marie Ropartz studies initially the right to Rennes before entering in 1885 to the Conservatoire of Paris the class of composition of Dubois then of Massenet, which he forsakes as of 1886 for that of Orgue of César Franck.He is director of the Conservatoire of Nancy (at the time National school branch of the Academy of Paris) of 1894 to 1919, where he created the classes of viola in 1894, of trumpet in 1895, Harpe and Orgue in 1897, then of Trombone in 1900. He also founds the season in symphonic concerts with the very young Orchestra of the Academy, ancestor of the Symphony orchestra and lyric of Nancy. He becomes member of the Breton regionalistic Union in 1898.
After the tragic death of his/her friend Albéric Magnard in 1914 and the loss of several manuscripts, Ropartz reconstitutes of memory the orchestration of its opera Guercœur .
He is then director of the Academy of Strasbourg of 1919 to 1929, in parallel ensures the direction of the Philharmonic orchestra of Strasbourg and influences considerably young students like Charles Munch. Elected in 1949 member of the Academy of the Art schools, 5th section (musical composition), it succeeds Georges Hüe with the armchair V.
He takes his retirement in 1929 and withdraws himself in his manor of Lanloup. In 1953, it is reached of blindness.

Literary production
Ropartz was also a poet of talent which made appear in its youth three collections of worms, influenced at the same time by the school parnassienne and the symbolism. In 1889 it publishes with Louis Tiercelin the contemporary Breton Parnassus , an anthology of the Breton Poésie of second half of the 19th century and it takes part in the Revue Hermine , that Tiercelin founds little time afterwards, in October 1890.- Adagiettos (1888)
