Guy Ligier
Guy Ligier is an automobile old driver French born the July 12th 1930 with Vichy. It took part at thirteen Grands Prix of Formule 1, obtaining 1 point with the Championship of the world of the pilots thanks to his 6th place with the Grand Prix of Germany 1967.
It is more known to have founded its own racing stable of Formula 1, Ligier, which ran during the Seventies to 90 before selling it with Flavio Briatore, which will resell it with Alain Prost in 1997.
Biography
Former player of international Rugby, Guy Ligier returns tardily in the automobile competition. He begins in 1964 in Formule 2 and running from the races from endurance from sport scars with some successes. In 1966, it enters the world of the Formule 1 but the results are not there, it returns in Formula 2 two years later where it loses a friend close in the person to OJ Schlesser during the Grand Prix of France 1968. Guy will announce his retirement as a pilot at the end of this season.He will return to the competition in 1970 for the 24 hours of Mans on board a car of his design, JS1 (JS like OJ Schlesser). He will take part in various races of endurance with his own cars until in 1974.
Two years later, in 1976, first Ligier make their appearance in the world of the F1. The stable will be with the signal level until in 1981, year when the descent into Hell will start. In 1992, Guy Ligier decides by the force of the things to withdraw and give the orders of the stable to Flavio Briatore. Ligier will continue to survey the circuits until in 1996, with a last start marked by the single victory of Olivier Panis with the Grand Prix of Monaco. In 1997, Alain Prost will repurchase the stable which will become Prost Grand Prix, which will be put in compulsory liquidation in 2002.
