Guy Gilles

Guy Gilles (Scanty Guy, Algiers, August 25th 1938 - February 3rd 1996) is a Réalisateur French.

Biography

The maternal heritage enables him to carry out its first short-measuring, extinct Sun , in 1958. It takes as a starting point the first name of his mother (Gillette) to create her pseudonym. After studies in the Art schools, it leaves for Paris, where it works as assistant near François Reichenbach in 1964.

Its first feature film, Love with the sea (1962), where appear Juliette Gréco, Romy Schneider and Jean-Pierre Léaud, leaves without distributer in 1965. One sees there already his actor fetish Patrick Jouané. He works for television (on the emissions Dim, Dam, Dom , For the pleasure ,…) and turns of the " movies-reportages" ( Movies Jewel , Pop' age ).

With the side cut collects the praises of Marguerite Duras, then the Light of ground , with Edwige Feuillère, receives those of Jean-Louis Bory (1970). It turns a short-measuring to accompany the Hooligans by Claude Lelouch, Côté court side field (1971).

Its love affair with Jeanne Moreau seems to inspire the feature film repeated Absences whose actress interprets the song, film which receives the Prix Jean-Vigo in 1973.

Helene Martin proposes to him to carry out documentary on Jean Genet, Saint, poet and martyr . It is diffused at the time of a film festival gays organized by Lionel Soukaz in 1978, disturbed by a fascistic group which wounds the realizer.

Its last films to be left in rooms are the Crime of love (1982), with Richard Berry and Jacques Penot, and flexible Nuit (1987). Reached AIDS, encountering difficulties with the production, he pains to complete Néfertiti, the girl of the sun in 1994.
