Guy Gavriel Kay
Guy Gavriel Kay is a Canadian writer , specialized in the Heroïc Fantasy.
It took part in the drafting of the Silmarillion of Tolkien (with the son of this last). It then published novels under its own name.
Biography
Guy Gavriel Kay was born in 1954. He initially studied philosophy, then continued studies of right to the university of Toronto where he always resides.He was then scenario writer of the series The Scales off Justice (1982-1989), produced by the Radio-Canada chain. It is at the same time that it publishes its first novels, the trilogy of fantasy the Tapestry of Fionavar . This series, from very traditional invoice, receives very warm welcome. Volume 2 ( wandering fire ) receives the Prix Casper (famous Prix Aurora since 1990) of the English novel in 1987.
It develops thereafter a more personal universe, often qualified historical fantasy . Its novels have now jointly to be located in an imaginary world, but being inspired very strongly by the History. The magic and the supernatural one are far from present, even absent, contrary to the traditional fantasy.
Tigane , the song of Arbonne is inspired respectively by Italy and France. Guy Gavriel Kay receives again the Prix Aurora in 1991 for Tigane .
the Lions of Al-Rassan is located in Spain, more precisely by the end of the period of the Califat of Cordoue, and is inspired in particular by the life of Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar says the Cid.
