Career

Its first victory takes place in 1986 with the tournament of Toulouse where his/her grandfather asserted himself in 1946 and his/her father in 1966. It also gains with Nancy in 1989 and becomes world champion in double with the Suisse Jakob Hlasek in 1990.

It carries out its best season in 1991: it reaches the 4th world rank thanks to 6 victories in tournament (Sydney, Brussels, Cincinnati, Bordeaux, Toulouse and of the Open of Paris-Bercy. No French player gained as many tournaments over one year. This year, it also dominates 3 times Pete Sampras, each time in special occasionss (final of Cincinatti and Bercy and finale of the Coupe Davis). With Wimbledon it reaches the quarterfinals (beaten by German Boris Becker). It will never exceed this stage of the competition in the tournaments of the Grand Slam.

Guy Forget puts an end to his career of player in 1997 after 11 gained tournaments into simple and 28 in double. He lives today with Mies.

Three Davis championship victories

Selected in team of France for the first time in 1984 in Czechoslovakia, Forget becomes titular into simple, only after the withdrawal of Yannick Noah in 1990. It gains the Coupe Davis in 1991 with Lyon, against the United States. The captain of the team is not other than Yannick Noah. Beaten the first day by Andre Agassi, it is begun again in double with Henri Leconte then brings the decisive point by beating Pete Sampras in 4 sets. Two years later, France obtains its revenge while going to triumph over Australian Hewitt and Rafter over the grass over Melbourne. That year, the team of France (made up of Nicolas Escudé, Sebastien Grosjean and Arnaud Clément into simple and of Cédric Pioline and Fabrice Santoro in double) succeeds in the exploit to gain its 4 meetings outside (Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands and Australia). Radio and Television

Guy Forget joined the service of the sports of the radio Europe 1 as consultant tennis of the station starting from the March 19th 2007. He intervenes at the great sessions of information, in the direct ones and Europe Sport at the time of the great tournaments.

At the time of the tournament of Roland Garros 2007, it intervened very regularly on the chains of France Televisions.
