Guy Degrenne
Guy Degrenne , Industrial French, born the August 3rd 1925 with Tinchebray, (Flowering ash), dead the November 7th 2006 with its residence of Granville (Handle). He is the founder of the industry group Guy Degrenne , famous manufacturer of covers, champagne buckets, dishes, and other culinary stainless steel articles.
Biography
After studies with the Sainte-Marie college with Flers in the Flowering ash, with the Saint-Joseph college with Caen, then with ESSEC, Guy Degrenne takes again the forging mill of his/her father in 1948, with Sourdeval (Manche), soil historically attached to the work of metal and the cutlery. It is here, indeed, which " Ground-neuvas" bought their fish knife before leaving to fish in Atlantic-North. The “Grillous”, as they were called, trained a brotherhood which furrowed the countryside to manufacture and sell tin covers. Guy Degrenne, by his father, is one of the descendants.He meets success while launching stainless steel covers, from which metal comes, says one, of the shielding of the destroyed tanks of the Bataille of Normandy. Its ambition is to democratize stainless steel covers.
In 1958, Guy Degrenne develops an activity of flatware, then launches out, in 1963, in top-of-the-range covers. In 1967, it transfers part of its activities in a new factory to Vire (Apple-brandy), always in the Vallée of the alloys , and employs 600 worker in a factory of 35.000 m ².
In 1978, it assoit definitively its notoriety near the general public by a publicity, putting in scene a headmaster predicting at a Degrenne young person, as a dunce of Communal surprised drawing forks and knives in the margins of its books of schoolboy “ It is not as that which you will make a success of in the life ”. A setting in very successful scene, though little conforms to reality, Degrenne being graduate of an university.
In 1987, Guy Degrenne yields his company to the holding Table of France , to open the mark with all arts of the table. The commercial Guy Degrenne which made his fame disappears then from the screens.
