Guy Chevrette

Guy Chevrette (January 10th 1940 with Saint-Like -) is a politician Québécois. Its name is closely associated with the Québécois Parti.

Biography

He was elected first vice-president of CSQ, then, in 1976, was elected appointed pequist in the district of Joliette.

Member of the Commission Stereotypes, it becomes later chief of the Official opposition after the departure of Pierre-Marc Johnson. Chevrette becomes the Leader of the government under Jacques Parizeau.

From 1982 to 1985, he is minister in the government pequist of Rene Lévesque and Pierre-Marc Johnson, successively with the ministry for the leisure, hunting and fishing, with the ministry for the social affairs and ministry for health and the social services.

When the Québécois Party is re-elected in 1994, it takes again the reindeers of various ministries: ministry of State to the development of the areas; ministry for the municipal businesses and minister responsible for the electoral Reform; minister responsible for the development of the areas; minister responsible for the businesses autochtones; ministry for the natural resources; ministry for transport; minister responsible for Fauna and the Parks, inter alia.

He resigns of his station of deputy the 29 January 2002. He was useful as deputy during 26 years.

Thereafter, it continues to be representative for Quebec at various stations. In October 2002, the Prime Minister for Quebec Bernard Landry names it special representative of the Prime Minister in the file of the territorial agreement with the autochtones In of the Coast-North. He becomes then president of the Association of the local centers of development of Quebec (ACLDQ) in 2004. Lastly, in May 2005, it is named general president-director of the Council of the forest industry of Quebec.
