Guy Burgel

Guy Burgel is professor of Géographie/Urbanisme with the Université Paris X Nanterre. He is founder of the collection " Cities in parallèle" and, ensures some since the edition with its wife, Galia Burgel. The scientific work of Guy Burgel, recognized by the medium of professional town planning, in fact a personality impossible to circumvent of the medium.

In his capacity as town planner, Guy Burgel wrote several works on the city of which the city today in 1993, Of the third world to the third worlds in 2000 or the revenge of the cities in 2006. He also took part in the edition of the urban French history into 1985/2001 (2 editions) like with the History of urban Europe in 2003.

Because of a particular attachment in Greece, Guy Burgel also wrote several works on this country and in particular on Athens ( the Athenian miracle at the XXe century , delivers appeared in 2002 at CNRS Editions).

In October 2006, Guy Burgel leaves a book on a subject not being usual to him: the University. This book, heading University, a French misery deals with problems of the French university system. This work, addressed to a more important panel of readers, was worth to him many interventions with the radio (RMC, France Inter, France Info, Europe 1) like on television (LCI, France 5, Canal +…).

November 8th, 2007, Guy Burgel is named with the Académie of architecture, Place of the Vosges, for the whole of his scientific work.
