Gustave Rouland
Gustave Rouland is a French politician, born with Yvetot (Seine-Maritime) in 1806 and died in Paris in 1878.
Biography
Appointed Dieppe (1846), it was named prosecuting attorney at the Court of appeal. It was withdrawn at the time of the Révolution of 1848 but was recalled to this station by the ministry of Odilon Barrot (1849).It adhered to the Empire and was promoted public prosecutor close to the court of Paris (1853). Named Minister for the state education and the worships (August 13rd 1856), it organized vocational training. After having left its station (June 22nd 1863), he became vice-president of the Senate (1863), president of the Council of State (1863-1864) and finally Gouverneur of Banque de France (1864-1878).
He was also elected senator twice (1857, 1876).
