Gustave Reese
Gustave Reese (born the November 29th 1899 and deceased the September 7th 1977) was a American musicologist and a professor. Born with New York, where he lived and taught most of his life, he is deceased with Berkeley, in California.
Reese is mainly known for its work devoted to the medieval Musique and the Musique of the Rebirth, in particular thanks to its two publications: music with the Middle Ages ( Music in the Middle Old ) in 1940 and music with the Rebirth ( Music in the Rebirth ) in 1954. These two books remain reference books in their respective fields, in particular thanks to a very provided bibliography, which makes it possible to go back easily to original works.
In 1934, Gustave Reese was founding member of the American company of Musicology (AMS), and chair this one, of 1950 with 1952.
