Gustave Flourens

Gustave Flourens is an academic and politician French born in 1838 in Paris and carried out by the soldiers of Versailles with Rueil-Malmaison (and not with Chatou) in April 1871. It is a personality of the Commune of Paris
Origins
He was the son of the physiologist Marie Jean Pierre Flourens, professor with the Collège de France and appointed in 1838-1839 and the older brother of Emile Flourens, future Foreign Minister of the Third Republic. By this one, it is the back great-uncle of Bruno Gollnisch, former deputy of the the Rhone.
Career
Professor at the Collège de France at 25 years in 1863, it is charged to treat the Histoire of the human races where its opinions anti-nuns and anti-Bonapartists make it prohibit course after one working year. He will then publish his lessons under the title of Histoire of the Man .
Political life
Red republican, it takes makes and causes for the crétois risen against the Ottoman Empire and solicits in their favor people of opinion advanced in all Europe of which Victor Hugo, the old unhappy competitor of his/her father to the French Academy. In 1866, it takes part in the insurrection crétoise with the rank of captain. It is named ambassador of Crete attached to the Greek government, which yielding to the pressures of the French government expels it towards France.
Political opponent with the Second Empire, it is imprisoned for three months in 1869. He becomes military chronicler of the newspaper the Marseillaise of Henri Rochefort, and fights in duel against Paul de Cassagnac, which wounds it with the belly. After the arrest of Rochefort in February 1870, he flees in Holland then in England. In August 1870, the high-Court sitting with Blois condemns it to six years of prison by contumacy.
It returns to France after the proclamation of the Republic the September 4th 1870, it is elected chief of a battalion of the National guard of Belleville and is one of the organizer of the riot of the October 31st 1870 against the policy considered to be too tepid of the Gouvernement of National defense. Imprisoned, it is released by the rising of Parisian the March 18th 1871 and is elected with the Commune by the 19 {{E}} district, named general and responsible for the defense of revolutionary Paris. Partisan of the disastrous offensive of the communards against Versailles, it is killed the April 3rd 1871 with Rueil whereas it was disarmed by the captain of the gendarmerie Desmarets, future Justice of the Peace in Garnache in the Vendée and was protected from the count of Baudry d' Asson.
