Gustav Neidlinger
Gustav Neidlinger (born the March 21st 1910 with Mainz - died the December 26th 1991 with Bad Ems) was a Baritone-low German. He studied with Francfort-sur-le-Main and began in 1931 in Mainz. He is especially famous for his interpretation of the role of Alberich of the Ring of Nibelung , of which he was the holder with the Festival of Bayreuth during fifteen years, starting from reopening in 1951, that to which testifies a crowd to recordings (including the Ring of studio of Georg Solti).
The voice strong, raucous, a little digs, sometimes prone to the barkings or the howls, but very expressive, of Gustav Neidlinger was also recorded a very great number of times, in other roles, in particular those of Klingsor ( Parsifal ), of Gift Pizarro ( Fidelio ), of the Dutchman ( the Ghost ship ) but also, more surprising, as well in that of Hans Sachs as that of Fritz Kothner in the Masters Singers of Nuremberg .
