Gustav Bauer

Gustav Adolf Bauer , born with Darkehmen in the old German area of Eastern Prussia (Russian enclave of Kaliningrad) the January 6th 1870 and died in Hermsdorf, close to Berlin the September 16th 1944, is a German politician.
He was the first Chancelier of Reich under the Weimar Republic (1919-1920), and signed the Traité of Versailles.
He founded in 1895 the Trade union of the employees whom he chaired until in 1908. He was vice-president of the general Commission of the trade unions ( Generalkommission der Gewerkschaften ) for all the Germany of 1908 with 1918. He became Secretary of State to the imperial office of Work of the last government of the prince max von Baden. , Appointed later Minister for Reich to Work in the government of Philipp Scheidemann, he became chancellor with the resignation of this one.
For this reason, it signed the Traité of Versailles. He resigned shortly after the Putsch of Kapp. He turned over to the government under the orders of Hermann Müller and Joseph Wirth as Minister for Reich to the Treasury and vice-chancellor.
