Saint Gurloës (also known under the name of Urlo Saint) was the first abbot of the Abbaye Holy-Cross of Quimperlé. He was blessed abbot on September 14th, 1029 by Orscand bishop of Nantes. He settled in the new abbey with twelve monks coming like him from the Saint-Saver abbey from Redon. The same day, Alain Canhiart constituted with the monastery a stronghold seigneurial including/understanding Lothéa, Baye, Mellac, Tréméven and Belle-Ile.
He died in 1057 after having controlled the abbey during twenty eight years minus twenty days according to the dires of Dom Placide the Duke. He was béatifié by the pope and receipt the title of Bienheureux .
In 1083, its relics were high in the crypt of the abbey. Thereafter, the saint was the subject of an intense devotion. He was called upon for the kidney and headaches inter alia. But about its life itself we know only very few things. Two vaults are devoted to him not far from Quimperlé, with Lanvénégen and Languidic.
