Gurû RAM Das
Gurû RAM Das (Panjabi: ਗੁਰੂਰਾਮਦਾਸ). Born with Lahore (current Pakistan) in 1534 - died with Amritsar in 1581).
Gurû RAM Das which is called initially Jetha, is orphan and salesman on the markets. He meets the spiritual teaching of Sikhs and becomes disciple of Gurû Amar Das of which he marries the girl, Bhani (otherwise called " Bibi" Bhani as a sign of respect, bibi meaning " sister well aimée"). The history says that it is it which chose it.
Jetha succeeds its Master and father-in-law in 1574, becoming thus the fourth of the 10 Gurûs of the sikhism, under the name of RAM Das , " servant ( das ) of God ( RAM ) ". Guru RAM Das contributes to the organization of a community sikh growing and increasingly represented in the northern half of the Indian sub-continent.
Appear of the marriage, by its union with Bibi Bhani, it is the author of the Lavan , the four anthems of the marriage, sung while the husbands, bound by a silk scarf, make four turns of the furnace bridge, exceeding with each tower a fear, a difficulty, and tying a bond, " enroulant" , with the Infinite one.
Not far from Lahore, Guru RAM Das makes complete hydraulic work and dig a basin (a sarovar ) around whose it creates a city where it installs its court: it is Ramdaspur , which becomes later celebrates it Amritsar.
Another event marks its teaching and the spiritual bond between Sikhs and the Yoga. Indeed, Guru RAM Das returned visit to the son of Guru Nanak, Baba Sri Chand, worthy main of a community of Yogis, the Udasis (or " détachés"). With Baba Sri Chand which was astonished by the long beard of Guru, that answered that it was only used to wipe dust on the feet of the worthy saints as that to which it had the honor to be addressed. Deeply marked by the humility of Guru, Baba Sri Chand recognized in Guru RAM Das ultimate qualities of a Yogi Master, informant whom Guru itself had sat on the throne of the Raj Yoga (from there comes the strong bond which exists between Kundalinî Yoga and dharma Sikh, in teaching from Yogi Bhajan).
Little before its death, in Amritsar, Guru RAM Das names its young person sons, Arjun, as ambassador with Lahore. Month after month, this last entrusts by letter all the love and all the devotion which it dedicates to its Master (and father), in spite of the hostility of his/her older brother who dreams to succeed his father with the head of the community sikh. But by these letters (that Sikhs know under the name of their first words, Mera Man Lochai or " my heart languit" , jewel of the Kirtan, the musical and poetic repertory sikh), Guru RAM Das recognizes in Gurû Arjan a disciple devoted and able to guide the community. He thus declares it 5th guru sikhs in 1581, and dies shortly after.
