Guns Pink

Guns Pink (sometimes shortened GN' R ) is a group of Rock/American Hard-Rock originating in Los Angeles. The group was born following the fusion of 2 other groups: L.A. Guns, always in activity, and Hollywood Pink.

Career

Guns Pink, it is the history of a headlight group of the end of the Années 1980 and beginning of the Années 1990 which continues always today under a new formation and an album Chinese Democracy envisaged of long time. They are a success fulgurating with their first album, Appetite for Destruction (1987), which ran out with more than 27 million specimens throughout the world. For a first album, such a success was new in the Histoire of the rock'n'roll. One can allot it to exceptional musical quality and the already sulfurous reputation of the group. " Appetite For Destruction" is followed in 1988 by EP entitled G R Dregs , which includes/understands eight songs including four drawn from a demonstration left in 1986, in the form of a EP vinyl Live?! *@ Like has Suicide and 4 other accoustiques. This album is also an important success but it is necessary to await 1991 so that the true successors of Appetite is confirmed, by the two albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II . Meanwhile, the group separates from its beater Steven Adler and replaces it by the beater of the group metal The Cult, Matt Sorum. The group also announces that it will associate the services of a keyboard in the person of Dizzy Reed. The two albums Uses Your Illusion I and II leave at the same time in September 1991 and become quickly of true social phenomena, supported by planetary tubes such as " You Could Be Mine" (B.O of Terminator 2), " Don' T Cry" , " Knockin' one Heaven' S Door" or " November Rain" who engrave the group in the legend. These albums run out with nearly 35 million specimens (combined) throughout the world. The group then fills the stages of the whole world, success is colossal. Musicalement, the group explores very vast musical universes. However, it is at that time that Guns' NR Pinks loses one of its founding members, the discrete one but effective rhythmic guitarist Izzy Stradlin which goes ambitionner a career solo under the name of Izzy Stradlin' and the Ju Ju Hounds in 1992. It will be replaced by Gilby Clarke. Very quickly, the duet Axl Pink and Slash, the 2 most media characters and most charismatic of the group, become the symbol of a whole generation like were Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, or Jimmy Page and Robert Plant in their time. Guns Pink is not then the great rock group of its time. Guns Pink will not take part in the prestigious Freddie Mercury Tribute on April 20th, 1992. One will remember in particular the duet Axl Pink/Elton John on the title " Bohemian Rhapsody". The passage to Paris will be also noted, on June 6th, 1992, where Guns Pink does not give a concert to the hippodrome of Vincennes in front of 60.000 people. This concert is retransmis by televisions of the whole world. For the occasion, Guns Pink is not surrounded distinguished guests: Lenny Kravitz which will come to sing " Always one the run" with the group, except for Axl, like Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, respectively singer and guitarist of Aerosmith who will gratifieront the public of two titles of their own group, " Train kept has rollin" and " Mama kin" , in company of Guns Pink to large complete. At the conclusion of does its world tour, in 1993, the group leave an album recoveries entitled The Spaghetti Incident? to show to the fans of the group the music which inspired them.

Comes then a long period from decline, marked by the escapades of certain members of the group and in particular of the singer Axl Pink. Others will be tested with parallel projects as Slash with its group Slash' S Snakepit (in which also will work Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke) in 1995 or Duff McKagan with its album solo " Believe in me" , at the end of 1993. These two members will end up leaving Guns definitively Pink. They will be joined by Matt Sorum to found Velvet Revolver in 2002. Geffen will leave all the same an double album live in 1999 heading Live Era: '87- '93 which contains songs of the group recorded at the time of various concerts, then in 2004 Greatest Hits , the album Greatest Hits was placed directly at the head of Charts in the whole world (#1 in many countries), becoming one of the records of longevity in Charts since the 21è century. Indeed, the album is always in Charts in several countries!!

It is into 2006 that the group marks a true return, with several concerts in New York then a European round which will be followed of an American round. Only two members of the line-up of the time " Use your illusion" are present (Axl Pink and Dizzy Reed). It will be also noted that Izzy Stradlin, takes part on some dates. The album Chinese Democracy , which is announced since years, was normally to leave in the current the year 2007. Brian May, the guitarist of the group Queen, took part in 3 pieces written by Axl but for the moment, only the presence of the one of them ( Catcher in the Rye ) was confirmed on the album.

The European round of summer 2006 stopped with POPB in Paris on June 20th. The concert of Zurich of June 21st had to be cancelled at the last minute because the woman of Brain (beater of the group) was confined earlier than envisaged. It had thus to set out again in the emergency United States and was replaced by Frank Ferrer during approximately two weeks. Axl Pink was questioned by the Swedish police force and was prosecuted on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in connection with an incident which has occurred early the morning when it was stopped in Stockholm for violent control and damage in the living room of the hotel. He would have insulted and bitten with the leg a guard of safety.

With the autumn 2006, the formation confirms that they will leave in round through North America. The last dates of round are planned for on January 16th 2007. The tickets for the concerts are sold in only some minutes after the setting on sale. Frank Ferrer is then officially in the group without however that Brian Mantia is returned.

July 28th, 2007, the formation Adler' S Appetite, putting in the high-speed motorboat Steven Adler, offers a concert in the honor of the 20th birthday of the disc Appetite for Destruction to Key Club, in Los Angeles. In an interview the drummor promises that all the original members will be present except for Axl Pink. In its case, explained Stevenà that it met it in Las Vegas recently that it y' has a possibility that Axl is there. Finally, the concert took place without Axl and Slash. Izzy and Duff are assembled to play Mr. Brownstone then Izzy is remained for 3 other titles, Tijuana Jail, Mama Kin and Paradise City.

Chinese Democracy, imminent exit?

The group did not leave album studio any more since 1993. Since 1994, Axl Pink starts to work on a new album, from which one will learn the title later a few years: Chinese Democracy . For this period, its exit has been many announced times then pushed back. According to an article NewYork Times, it would act of the album expensive of all times. Indeed, of the hundreds of hours of studio were already paid. One does not count any more the number of international collaborations of stars whose work will be put outstanding for still unknown reasons. This album made enormously run ink in ten years approximately of " false alertes" concerning its exit.

In 2006, Axl Pink promises the nearest exit of the album. According to an article of the magazine Rolling Stone , the album would have to leave on November 21st, 2006.

Axl Pink announces on December 15th, 2006 in an open letter with the fans of its group that Chinese Democracy , the album awaited since more than 10 years, will leave the March 6th 2007. It is a provisional coming out date, because it is not sure to be able to hold its promises. But it will test by all the means of respecting this date, for the honor of its fans. Many figures of the Rock'n'roll having worked with Axl Pink and his friends confirm the existence of truths titles of quality, in the continuity of the Use Your Illusion 1 and 2, with a modern texture being inspired in particular by The Wall or Achtung Baby .

According to many sources, Chinese Democracy promises to be one of the largest albums of Rock'n'roll ever recorded.

World tour 2006/2007

The " Chinese Democracy World Turn " on May 12th, 2006 in New York for 4 complete concerts in Hammerstein Ballroom began, of many personalities were seen with these concerts marking the great return of the group, of which in particular Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Lenny Kravitz or Kid Rock, Dexter Holland of the group Offspring, Fred Durst of the group Limp Bizkit or Lindsay Lohan, unconditional fan of the group since his childhood and who have thereafter an adventure with the singer Axl Pink.

The round passed then by Europe and the United States, while passing by again in particular in New York for a concert noticed with the Madison Square Garden, like with Las Vegas or Cuba.

The round 2006 comprised a series in 70 concerts and the group played in front of more than 1 million people on the whole.

At the summer 2007, the group left again in round in Mexico then in Oceania (Australia, New Zealand) like in posting Japan for concerts once again complete.

Current members

At the beginning, Guns Pink was not a group which had 5 members. With time, new stations were created. A keyboard was added in 1990 with Dizzy Reed, Ensuite, in 1999, another keyboard was added with Chris Pittman and finally in 2000, a third guitarist, Buckethead, now replaced by Ron " Bumblefoot" Thal. What was a group of 5 is now a group of 8. Before beginning the round of 2002, Paul Tobias is replaced by Richard Fortus but Paul Tobias will remain in the entourage. During the world tour 2006, Brian " Brain" Mantia left the group to join his wife who was confined. Since this moment, Frank Ferrer being the official beater of the group without however Brian " Brain" Mantia is group outside officially.

It is estimated that Guns Pink did not sell nearly 90 million albums in the world, including more than 40 million only in the United States.
