Gunnar Myrdal

Gunnar Myrdal (Gagnef, December 6th 1898 - Danderyd, May 17th 1987), economist Swedish and prize winner of the “Nobel Prize” of economy in 1974 (at the same time as Friedrich Von Hayek).

In 1944, it publishes a report on the statute of the Blacks in the United States ( An American Dilemma ). Its other major contribution treats economic conditions of the Southeast Asia ( Asian Drama ). It is particularly pessimistic in connection with a possible development of Asia.

His wife, Alva Reimer Myrdal, saw herself decreeing the Nobel Prize of peace in 1982 for her work in favor of disarmament with Alfonso García Robles.
