Gumbrechtshoffen
Gumbrechtshoffen is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace, to approximately 18 km in north east of Haguenau. Its inhabitants is called Gumbertshoffer. September 1st, 1945, the villages of Gumbrechtshoffen-Oberbronn (Obergumbrechtshoffen) and Gumbrechtshoffen-Niederbronn (Niedergumbrechtshoffen) amalgamate to become Gumbrechtshoffen.
Geography
The commune is crossed by the river Zinsel of North.
History
City formed in 1945 of the union Gumbrechtshoffen-Niederbronn (alternative: Nieder-Gumbrechtshoffen) and Gumbrechtshoffen-Oberbronn (alternative: Ober-Gumbrechtshoffen). Altitude 180 meters. Gallo-Roman low-relief coming from an important Gallo-Roman station. Property partly of the dukes of Lorraine and the basic landgraves Alsace in XIIe century.
Armorial bearings
In 1947, it was instituted by order of the prefect a commission of heraldic grouping a certain number of personalities with for mission of checking the authenticity of the already known municipal emblems of long time, and of formulating proposals for the reconstitution and of the attribution of armorial bearings to communes which do not seem to be able to make state until now of it. This commission proposed to allot to the commune of the weapons extracts from the armorial of the general information of Alsace d' Ozier from which description is as follows: Of azure to the lion of gold lampassée of mouths.
