(alternative orthographies: Gomadj, Gumait, Gumaj)

Language of indigenous tribes of the north of the Australia, belonging to the group of languages Yolngu. Nowadays approximately 300 people only speak this language.

To note:

  • the group of contemporary music indigenous Yothu Yindi sings in others in gumatj.
  • a Bible in Gumatj was published in 1977.
