Gulf of Thailand
The gulf of Thailand , also called gulf of Siam , is adjacent with the southernmost China Sea but does not form part of it. It is bordered by the Malaysia, the Thailand, the Kampuchea and the Vietnam. The northern part of the gulf constitutes bay of Bangkok, in which the river Chao Phraya is thrown. The gulf has a surface of some 320 000 km ². Its limit is a line which goes from the course Bai Bung in the south of Vietnam, just in the south of the mouth of the Mekong, at the town of Kota Baru on the east coast of Malaysia.
The gulf of Thailand not very major east, with an average depth of 45 m and a maximum of 80 Mr. the principal rivers which are thrown to it are Chao Phraya, Mae Klong and Tapi.
At the end of the last Glaciation, the gulf did not exist because of a sea level then low than today.
Thanks to its tropical temperature, the gulf shelters many reef of Coraux. The tourist place most known is the island of KB Samui in the Province of Surat Thani in Thailand.
The gulf also has reserves of Pétrole and Natural gas.
