Gulf of Lions

The Gulf of Lions is a small portion of the Mediterranean which is located vis-a-vis the Littoral sandy of the French areas of the Languedoc-Roussillon and the Provence, since the the Pyrenees until Toulon, according to certain charts.

The Gulf of Lions was quoted by the lyric writer and singer sétois Georges Brassens in his song Supplique to be buried with the beach of Sète .

The name of the gulf owes a priori nothing with the animal (the Lion), but rather to the Celtic god Lug.
